    meditation

That makes life very tricky and difficult. My own personal experience is not to push yourself into doing somethimg that is not right for you. If you can find a comfortable position to meditate for 5 mins that's great. Just go with that. Another thing to try that practises some of the skills...

Article: ‘You smiled at me so you’re not depressed’: What’s the most patronising thing your doctor has ever said to you about your mental health?

I don't understand how someone can confidently make a judgement based on a single meeting. Some people who are feeling depressed may well be the type to understate how they feel. Others may well overstate -not to exaggerate but because that's how they express themselves. Not everyone is...

Article: ‘You smiled at me so you’re not depressed’: What’s the most patronising thing your doctor has ever said to you about your mental health?

I remember reading somewhere that in ESA assessments they asked if you about your dog if you had one. Apparently, if you smiled while talking about your dog it meant you weren't depressed. Don't know if that is true but if so....:banghead:

I suppose the bank holiday weekend might be slowing things down a little too.

Migraine is really a brain disorder

Migraines, at least for me, have changed over the course of my life. I started experiencing them quite young. They were a definite type. Then when I was older and a doc recommended switching to a different type of pill I got clobbered with the three day horrors. That was pre ME. Luckily as...

David Tuller's new crowdfunding campaign (April 1, 2018)

It is difficult isn't it? It's a shame it can't run longer as I'm sure there are some, myself included, who would donate a second time as funds allow.

    meditation

So today I decided to meditate while lying on the sofa instead of on my bed. My dog is used to me meditating on my bed and just ignores it. Today she was intrigued..... she knew I wasn't asleep & she knew I wasn't having too bad a day. So today in meditation I learned it is really quite...

Trinity College Dublin: New research network will bolster our understanding of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Well, I think that's a chicken and an egg scenario. We really need an idea of numbers aand scale of disability etc to put forward our case for research funds. Yet without research we won't have diagnostic criteria. We have to start somewhere.

Jen Brea tweets about U.K. Unrest campaign

I am grateful to Jen and everyone who contributed to the film for all their hard work. Someone deliberately putting Unrest up for others to copy just because they thought it should be free was wrong. My views on the twitter storm have already been covered by others in the thread. However, one...

    meditation

I know the Headspace app does some guided ones to teach & get you started. So, you do have a voice bring you back to focus (on the breath) maybe two or three times in addition to the startup and finish instructions. They do ranges of specific meditaions too that follow a similar format. So if...

I've had a little play with Insight Timer @DaisyDaisy, it's a great resource. I do more of the classic medutation these days as I'm very sound sensitive, but there are some great resources including some sound tracks that are perfect for times when tinnitus gets really irritating. I...

Higher prevalence of ‘low T3 syndrome’ in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome: A case-control study (2018) Ruiz-Núñez et al.

It is very much horses for courses with these treatments. All you can do educate yourself and make the best choices you can. I know soneone who died in the in their mid 60s thanks partly to osteoporosis - a bad fracture that wouldn't heal and then infection and a horrible slide into sepsis...

Higher prevalence of ‘low T3 syndrome’ in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome: A case-control study (2018) Ruiz-Núñez et al.

Obviously you know your own situation best @Agapanthus and this post isn't an attempt to say otherwise. However, taking another view re osteoporosis: Everything we ingest may have potentially nasty side effects, if we are sensitive, even vitamin and minerals and food. Sometimes, it's a case of...

PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes released

Perhaps we should ask them? @Action for M.E. did you advise or agree that it would be sensible to ditch the use of actigraphs in the PACE trial because it would be too much a time burden and effort for patients? Could you provide details of any input you gave on the use of actigraphs in the...

    CBT- Jen Brea Twitter

I have been fortunate to have had some limited access to private healthcare. In my own experience in the UK what this means is access to private specialists. The general practitioner who refers you will still be NHS. I could have had more tests done, but which tests and if they don't make a any...

    meditation

Another resource, for those who want to go it a whirl, is Headspace: https://www.headspace.com It isn't free, but they let you have a try. It is meditation rather than relaxation or visualization and they do use the bodyscan method at the start of each meditation. Plus there is focus on the...
