Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

She shouldn't be in the job then.

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

Again, I'm not reading all the posts etc so forgive me for perhaps a touch of repetition but any potential letter being considered in reply to The Times should point out that the allegation of harassment on the level that Watt and others have repeated was questioned in the PACE tribunal and...

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

Forgive me - I'm not entirely following the story as my attention is elsewhere somewhat - but is the suggestion that the 'extended version' is, in reality, a revised version? Rhetorical questions and points but, firstly, they're not being entirely accurate if they're saying 'extended version'...

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

Could be anything from £2.8m to £4.4m, even upwards of that if the funding has not been fully disclosed. We still don't know how much it cost and the funders are not giving us all the proper answers.

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

"....and it is important that researchers are not discouraged from working on the disease because of concerns that they could be subject to the level of hostility that Pace researchers have experienced." Myth perpetuation. Mentioned this a million times online but I attended the PACE FoI...

Blog: Spoonseeker: Probing the Holes in MUS

Patients are being dismissed with new symptoms because of having a diagnosis of ME previously. My acute diabetes was (at first) missed and I was given the telltale signs of MUS by the GP. Seven months later I was told by another GP to get to hospital immediately, where I was finally put on...

Opinion piece: "Cannabis law reforms would let chronically ill people like me live in less pain and more dignity" by an ME patient

I recently bought some of the Holland and Barrett 5% stuff (it was half price) out of pure interest. I can't say that I've noticed a difference but I wasn't necessarily expecting to find one. There are sites (outside the UK) that sell (what looks like) stronger stuff (without THC) so I still...

A series of PACE funding FoI requests

This I have no knowledge of. The focus (quite rightly) is on the research and treatment but maybe we should be paying a little more attention to where these people got funding from and what was funded? You don't necessarily donate to something without having an interest in the outcome.

A series of PACE funding FoI requests

I mentioned this in a tweet to CM whilst in the same room as her in the June debate in the HoC but nobody seems to want to run with this! It does need clarification.

A series of PACE funding FoI requests

Thanks to those who've shown an interest in this. I don't think that this is immediately important but there is obviously something awry here. In my limited dealings with MS I noticed that he was quick to correct me in my (deliberate) omission of 'excess costs' in Scotland but appeared not to...

Resistance To Science and Technology by Julian Vigo (Forbes.com)

Y'know funnily enough, I searched for about thirty seconds last night on any 'Spiked!' link and thought 'I can't be...bothered'. Tedious, predictable shite (apologies).

Resistance To Science and Technology by Julian Vigo (Forbes.com)

She's managed to! Even down to the fact (IIRC without looking at the articles again) that she's plagiarised to the point of including the 'abuse' stuff as the second paragraph in each article!

Resistance To Science and Technology by Julian Vigo (Forbes.com)

The article is a plagiarised (from a previous work from the same author, no less) piece of crap (he said, somewhat plagiarising D. Tuller in turn) but there's the danger of Streisand Effect in criticising the piece very publicly and, inadvertantly, bringing attention to it. I note that the...

If you are now blocking people on Twitter you are doing so to stifle debate. If you are stifling debate it is invariably because you have no adequate answer.

UK 21 June 2018 | 3-hour ME debate in Westminster Hall, secured by Carol Monaghan

I appreciate your point but, without putting my appeal papers online (which go into greater detail), I think the DWP are on awkward ground if they attempt to go down the 'activity' route. I do take onboard your point though.

UK 21 June 2018 | 3-hour ME debate in Westminster Hall, secured by Carol Monaghan

FWIW, I recently won my ESA tribunal having gained enough points to go back to work but the tribunal saying that my mental and physical health could be made worse by putting me back to work. I read this (more or less) as the tribunal bypassing the WCA test. FWIW (II) I did include references...
