UK: Miley vs Friends Life 2017, Appeal result 2019 'Appeal Court judge accepts good and bad days'

Haven't gone through this but this appears to be the original ruling from 2017: http://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2017/2415.html&query=(miley

Trudie Chalder, BPS and MUS proponent - presentations, interviews and news

That "high-level formal hearing" took place only a fifth of a mile away (1057 days earlier) from where she'll be on the 13th.

Journal of Medical Ethics - Blog: It’s Time to Pay Attention to “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome” (2019) O'Leary

Completely sympathise and, unfortunately, agree. This was the point I was making earlier re 'MUS'. 'CFS'/ME/'MUS' are potentially lethal 'diagnoses' whereby, to many doctors, everything subsequently is viewed through the prism of the mind playing tricks; the doctor not admitting to not knowing...

MUS services in UK and other MUS related issues

One very dangerous potential consequence of MUS (which I've mentioned before) is being diagnosed with 'CFS' and then developing other, different symptoms. A doctor that subscribes to the MUS nonsense could then encounter a patient that fits the above paragraph, not spot a potentially...

Trial By Error: And Another Prebuttal…

Yes but that's not my argument. I've nothing against outside intervention - it is absolutely needed - but it's absolutely needed because the people from outside the UK to whom I've referred have done things which we haven't.

Trial By Error: And Another Prebuttal…

Whereas I don't disagree with your post I would add that we also need others to do the work too. Unfortunately I don't see too many people doing what David does in the UK. Without trying to speak for him (because I obviously cannot), he's done a marvellous job but I'm sure he has a life of his...

Trial By Error: And Another Prebuttal…

First/second week in May. The Hanlon hatchet job appeared at the beginning of May, interviews conducted the previous autumn.

Trial By Error: And Another Prebuttal…

Historically I don't think that enough has been made of the 'dustbin diagnosis' element of this group of patients by the patients themselves or the organisations representing them. This has arguably led to infighting and confusion and has been caused, to a large extent, by the medical...

Action for M.E.'s AGM and Conference 2018

Within seconds of speaking, the Countess of Mar said that AfME had recently improved by not being so adhered to the BPS. Looking at my notes from yesterday: "Immediately criticises AfME's previous stance, praises Peter Spencer." I'm not a huge CoM fan (she once attempted to get a friend and...

Grauniad does it again - "chronic fatigue"

There appears to be an editorial/cultural change at The Guardian (roughly 2000) which I've pointed out on a number of occasions on various platforms. The Guardian archive is available online so others can verify this for themselves by reading reports either side of 2000. I believe it's...

    Well, yes.

    Cochrane backtracking

Yes but (terrible cliché time coming up) 'nothing ventured, nothing gained', omelettes/eggs, and even Del Boy himself 'He who dares wins'. I understand that it is a risk but another level must be stepped up to at some point.

    Cochrane backtracking

Compared with the Royal Courts of Justice Judicial Review nine or so years ago regarding CBT I would suggest that there's been enough time to analyse the judgment and given that (arguably) the ground is safer for patients objecting to the BPS crowd than then, it's time to discuss the prospect of...

    Cochrane backtracking

I've been saying this for ages. Petitions etc will get you so far but we *must* now be having the 'legal' conversation. I know it's not a simple route but we must be discussing this.

    Guardian 'diabetes is biopsychosocial'

Cells in the pancreas stop working, the BPS crowd own it and The Guardian prints without question. I give up.

    Guardian 'diabetes is biopsychosocial'

Not being picky (!) but the limit, in my experience, appears to vary. Originally I was told 6 mmol/L (newly diagnosed insulin-dependent diabetic), then 7 then I was told that 8 is OK and then 7.5! There seems to be a bit of confusion about the upper limit.

    Guardian 'diabetes is biopsychosocial'

Yes. There's also a worry in The Guardian, yet again, reporting this rubbish.

I'm almost speechless at that bit of the article hence I didn't comment after Ismail's bit.

    Guardian 'diabetes is biopsychosocial'

Article in today's Guardian (https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/oct/24/diabetes-ticking-time-bomb-nhs) about diabetes being a time-bomb for the NHS. This bit: "Professor Khalida Ismail, professor of psychiatry and medicine at King’s College London and an honorary consultant liaison...
