I’ve been reading this 2013 study by Friedberg et al. Chronic fatigue self-management in primary care: a randomized trial.
This isn’t a study of ME/CFS, but the paper claims that 39% of the 111 randomized participants did meet diagnostic criteria for CFS (Fukuda-criteria). I don’t think the...
Could you explain this a little more? Do you mean that he focuses too much on the pharmacological industry as a source of bias + his aversion to vaccines and anti-depressants?
This is an interesting subject. I think the term "antidepressant" for these drugs can be a bit misleading because they are also prescribed for sleep- and pain problems. They have an effect on neurotransmitters with many functions and complexities in the human brain.
That being said, I do not...
Thanks, Inara. It's not really a summary though. I've just picked out some subjects I wanted to criticize. Ravn's post above shows that there are many other issues that I didn't highlight.
Hope that many others will be submitting feedback as well, even if it's only a short comment (mine was a...
Because there is a factual error in the abstract, I've written a short comment I would like to submit to the journal.
I do not have experience with this however. Are there any forum members who do have experience with submitting letters and could help me out in PM?
Many thanks in advance...
Thanks.
I was reading the pdf provided by Tom, so I overlooked that.
I keep getting this error message, if I want to access the actual website. Anyone else has this or knows a way around it?
I think they have. They've indicates this in their updates of their CBT-model.
Knoop et al. 2010. The central role of cognitive processes in the perpetuation of chronic fatigue syndrome.
“There is less support from treatment studies for the role of the other perpetuating factors that have been...
Wonderful blog post. I think this shows how important you still are to the ME-community.
Just one minor remark:
I doubt this is true. The Vercoulen model used to include somatic attributions but has ditched this, since it proved to be irrelevant in their studies. Don't think the PACE or FINE...
We all know most people read the abstract of an article, not the actual text. So many would get the false impression that this study demonstrated that fear avoidance beliefs predicted fatigue at follow-up, while it didn't.
Should we consider this an accidental mistake, given that virtually the...
Isn't there a mistake in the abstract? It reads:
That wasn't the case. I suppose they mean: "Stronger fear avoidance beliefs at T1 were associated with higher fatigue at T1."
Ok, here's what I will be submitting:
1) There is a consensus that GET is not effective in ME/CFS
This draft report claims that specialist clinicians and researchers maintain that graded exercise therapy (GET) is effective in ME/CFS. In doing so, it makes reference to the 2017 Cochrane review...
There was this case where he defended Bleijenberg/Knoop against criticism by Twisk and Corsius. Thought that was remarkable because the paper and critique had nothing to do with GET. This was only a month ago, see...
I'm pretty confident that this is not an act.
60.000 followers are seeing his tweets in which he compares ME/CFS to the time he broke his ankle or where he calls legitime concerns about GET being harmful, 'whining'.
I think he just snapped when he saw MPs in parliament speak up against the...
