Royal College of Psychiatrists apologising for saying things about PD patients that sound similar to what has been said about ME/CFS patients

They've said the quiet part out loud.

On the back of the subversion of the NICE guidelines process, it sounds like they really need to do a very transparent external review.

It's the same chatty, chummy style that has taken over RCPhysicians memos and BJGP, that creates patients as inconveniences.

When I reviewed research spending vs disease burden in Australia (admittedly this was like 10 years ago), two conditions stood out - ME/CFS (20x less funding than expected) and personality disorders (10x less than expected).

Just wondering how they are going to reword it -- Rosetta Stone-- some interesting translations/euphemisms --- for pain in the flesh substitute ----?

This is what happens when you think one thing behind closed doors & say another thing publicly. They act & apologise as if its the advert that's the problem, as if the advert was some kind of anomaly, rather than an illustration of the usually unseen.

I'm not a particular fan of quoting scripture... but this one sums up everything i want to say...

"Out of the heart, the mouth speaks"

That second sentence is also a bit interminable. They need to be introduced to proper punctuation as well as manners, and that elusive thing we call humility.

Obviously the content and attitude expressed are completely appalling but I can't believe how bad the writing is!! The third paragraph is so laboured it's painful. The items in the list are not all learning objectives. The last sentence isn't a sentence. How did somebody who writes like this get a medical degree??

    No accountability. No oversight.

Add time and in any context this is a recipe for disaster. Everyone needs to be held accountable in some form. Medicine has always been wholly unaccountable for results outside of a very narrow definition of deaths and hospital beds.

And, no, self-accountability is not accountability. It's the same thing as grading your own homework.
