I’m hoping we can pool some community knowledge on games which we can still play even when our cognitive function is poor. I find the right games can have a meditative effect and can be useful to dissolve boredom. The wrong choice of game can zap all cognitive function or trigger unhelpful levels of adrenaline. Criteria I look for are: No time limit. With brainfog my mind needs to take its own time and not feel rushed Benign, creative or funny: I usually avoid violent games unless designed with quirky humour Free or good value for money Can play in short bursts Examples These are games which I’ve found, or have been suggested to me when I’ve asked on Twitter: Design Home: interior design gamification The Sims FreePlay: boss virtual people around Min! : like Tetris but no time limit Hocus: puzzles based on Escher drawings Zen koi: fish catching things in a pond Steppy Pants: I find this difficult but you might find it funny The best game ever to make the hours disappear was Emperor but I don’t this exists as an app. One that breaks most of the above criteria but I found fascinating was Device 6. I played it with the walkthrough, it would have broken my brain completely otherwise but I still enjoyed the experience. Suggestions from this thread Plants versus Zombies: killing zombies, has humour but some speed required Words with Friends: similar to scrabble Wordfeud: multiplayer word game Jigidi: online jigsaw https://www.jigidi.com/jigsaw-puzzle/JMQWJ3V6/Bellagio-Village Candy Crush Gardenscapes Pill Mania Chuzzle Solitaire Links added Which games would you recommend for people of very few cognitive spoons? Let me know and I’ll add to this list.
