    Hi

Has anyone had homocysteine levels tested & subsequently treated and found any benefit? I was looking at this test for ease of use in the U.K. where we have to sort everything ourselves.

    https://www.yorktest.com/products/homocysteine-test/

I’m not expecting massive help from it but if no one found any benefit even with demonstrated abnormalities I’m unsure if its worth doing for general health, as high homocysteine is supposed to be bad.

    Thanks

Got tested on NHS as history of heart issues in family and MTHFR , MTRR genes not good. Not a lot of knowledge re homocysteine, but like most things low and high are not ideal Daughter ' s level of 6 made sense as glutathione is low so this figures.
Reference scale is weird 0-20. 0 - 4 would suggest issues. ( Can you actually gave 0 as a result?)
Biochemist in family would not be happy with level above 12.

You could argue case for NHS testing

@Cinders66 I’ve had my homocysteine tested a couple times and it was always between 6-7 which is good (I believe LabCorp’s reference normal is 4-15). So having good levels, at least for my ME, made no difference as I was as sick as ever with those levels.

I've apparently got low cysteine, but not sure about homocysteine.
