Reference for that? And I wouldn't be hugely surprised if previously perhaps he had, to someone outside the ME world, the CMRC probably do look worthwhile of support. It's part of the challenge, to educate and raise the awareness of ME with those in power so that they do change their minds.

It's one of the links to EDMs that @MeSci found. I'm sure you're right that he wasn't aware of the background to the CMRC.

Here's another one he signed in 2010: http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2010-12/778 (edited as I posted the wrong link first time).

Apparently, Jeremy Corbyn has been very supportive of issues faced by constituents with ME for many years, and in the past was given a copy of the book Lost Voices from a hidden illness (which led to the film Voices from the Shadows) and the IiME Conference DVDs so his agreement to speak at the next Invest in ME Research Conference hasn't come out of the blue.

Thanks. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding but all I see from those is that he supported calls for increased funding into ME. While those calls might have lead to the CMRC being formed, it hardly shows that he supports the CMRC in it's current form and level of uselessness.

IiME has just posted this on Facebook in response to a question asking if the chance of this actually happening can be improved
For those on Twitter who want to follow that suggestion. https://twitter.com/jeremycorbyn

EDM 212 was specifically in support of the UK CFS/ME Research Collaborative and carefully worded, e.g. think MEGA.
Also bearing in mind that IiME Research had been doing just this since 2006 and is why I'm sure CMRC formed as the next incarnation of the MRC Expert Group in collaboration with the UK Science Media Centre, otherwise why not simply join up with what IiME Research were doing.
I'm sure JC (and most, maybe all, of the other 34 signatories) was completley unaware of what was intended by the formation of the CMRC (to support the BPS lobby).

It was in one of the links posted higher up the thread. https://www.parliament.uk/edm/2013-14/212

EDIT: agree he was likely unaware of the political underpinnings of the CMRC. But the ref is useful for the CMRC to claim him as one of their own... if they want to. It's slight. There I go again ..nit picking.

@Andy your comment gave me the idea of creating an online thank you card (I think you've signed it).

I always cringe when politicians talk about Lamb's great work on MH. I've never seen him move beyond just thinking that politicians should do more of what the Royal College of Psychiatrists tells them.

Is Corbyn actually going to be there or will it be a prerecorded speech?

He has accepted the invitation to be there to speak in person, subject to unavoidable or external events such as a general election, political events, etc., so that would be a good plan if he could pre-record a speech just in case.

Thanks @NelliePledge yes they are great, ideal for short messages, and that was one of their own designs, I just uploaded the photo of JC (from his Twitter profile pic). It can be printed off too if wished. :)

I'm amazed at the positive response to the card. I thought only about 30 people might see and sign it, but as people seem keen to share it more widely I've published a post today on the Let's Do It for ME blog with a little more background: http://ldifme.org/2017/11/23/thank-you-jeremy-corbyn/
